With an ever growing family, the owners wanted to provide an environment where their children and grandchildren could come together and share weekends and family holidays. With three adult children of their own, plus their partners, and eight grandchildren, the challenge was to create a setting that would not only house everyone, but provide spaces to come together, and spaces to withdraw.
The solution was to create a new ‘West Wing’ to the residence, which was angled to mirror the lounge area at the opposite end of the site.
An additional level was also added, which includes a new bedroom and balcony that overlooks the pool below, and a new contemporary back painted glazed curtain-wall to the ensuite.
The nearby Sorrento pier gave inspiration to the Spotted Gum plank decking / jetty, which forms one side of the lap pool.
